OK, Fitness Diggers. Here’s my new favorite bodyweight exercise/strength training/weight loss program: Bodyweight Blueprint For Fat Loss This program is so “IDigFitness” that I bought it myself. And now I’m going to “use” it myself. It’s fast and it’s fun. Here’s a little sample of what the workout is like. Enjoy! Please, click here and go learn more about the program these two fitness coaches have put together. I’ve preached this over and over, but you can spend a little on a program like this, and you can save those monthly health club fees, not to mention the time and gas you waste driving to and from your health club workouts. And here’s the real bonus: YOU’LL BE IN BETTER SHAPE! That’s right, Better Shape. In case you haven’t heard about the latest fitness research, all that cardio and aerobics is not only time consuming, it’s ineffective for both fitness and fat loss. So, Less Time. Less Money. Better Shape. Is there anything more to say? Check out Bodyweight Blueprint today. You can get started right along with me using this great program. In fact, as soon as I finish this post, it’s time for my Bodyweight Blueprint workout. Let’s [...]

OK, just added WiiFit Plus to my “workout” arsenal. I haven’t had time to evaluate all its games and activities yet, but I can say that the balance board is going to be extremely good for my stiff, inflexible body – especially the yoga, but all of the balance games in general. Remember the philosophy of IDigFitness.Com – “if its fun, you do it.” Well, Wii Fit is definitely fun, and I think I’ll definitely be doing it (probably more than I should). Question is, will I get a measurable fitness benefit? We’ll see. My first impression is that it will have both physical and mental health benefits. Playing games is something we adults should do more of. We’ve gotten all too grown up and serious. I’ll keep you posted on how my opinion of Wii Fit progresses as I use it more.

Yep, right about now we are all (at least in the US) feeling a little bloated and a few pounds heavier, thanks to those wonderful Thanksgiving meals. Most of us are also scheming ways to shed that extra pound or two we just put on. If you want a different perspective than the usual aerobics and weight training line most fitness “experts” pass out these days, you might consider what Dr. Al Sears has to say. His PACE® approach is different from what you may have read about in the past. I find it to be both more time efficient and more effective. Dr. Sears suggests that the quality and intensity of your exercise is more important than the quantity. Here is a summary of one study which supports Dr. Sears’ approach: “Researchers at Laval University in Quebec divided men into two groups: long-duration and short-interval exercisers. They had the long-duration group cycle up to 45 minutes without interruption. The short-interval group cycled in bursts of only 15-90 seconds, while resting in between. “The long-duration group burned twice as many calories, so you would assume they would burn more fat. However, when the researchers recorded their body composition measurements, the [...]

OK, have you seen these things? They are called “kettlebells.” I have no idea why. If you are bored with weight lifting or working out on machines at the health club, get yourself some of these. This is an amazing total body workout. Now you’re going to think I’ve hit myself in the head with a kettlebell, but this is actually fun, in a fitness nut sort of a way. I’ll warn you, kettlebells are not easy, but you can start where you are with whatever weight is comfortable for you. That’s why I recommend the Kettlestack, because you can add or subtract weight as needed. If you buy the traditional kettlebell, you are stuck with whatever weight bell you buy. Have fun with fitness. I dig kettlebells.
