Bruce Lee Style Fitness

July 7, 2009
By I Dig Fitness

Most of you know of Bruce Lee, the legendary martial artist who became a movie star and, unfortunately, died at a young age. His skills were unsurpassed, and his level of fitness was unbelievable.

Even though I grew up in the peak of Bruce Lee’s popularity, this video amazed me. I never fail to be surprised at the level of athletic skill the human body is capable of.

The “sticks on a string” Bruce is using are called nunchucks. I actually trained in the martial arts in my college days, and I own a pair of nunchucks to this day. Let me tell you, they are difficult to use – very difficult. For my part, I was successful only in inflicting painful blows to my head and legs while trying to learn to use the things.

For Bruce to have been able not only to hit something as small and fast-move as a ping-pong ball, but also to have been able to direct the ball’s flight after it was struck, is incomprehensible.

I almost wonder whether the video below could have been edited Hollywood style, but knowing what I do about Bruce Lee, it’s quite possibly legit. There’s a lot of debate on that point around the Net.  Whatever, it’s great fun.  Take a look.
