Why Am I Fat (and Hungry)?

Losing weight is a tough battle most of us go through some time or the other. Eating nutritious, healthy food is one of the most important ways to win this battle. Shedding extra weight from your body will not only make you look good, it will lower the danger and risk of many diseases like diabetes, heart problems, arthritis, blood pressure, breathing problems, and many more.

Low calorie food is easy to digest, keeps us light and active, and is easy on our arteries. It is definitely good for our overall health. Have you ever wondered why you seem to be hungry all the time and yet you are constantly gaining weight or struggling with some fad diet? When you are eating “junk,” your body never gets the nutrition that it requires, no matter how much “junk” you eat. So, you eat more and more of the wrong things and your health declines while your weight goes up.

Reversing the Trend

The next big question is how to keep the calorie count low and still enjoy the food you eat. Two of the most important factors that you need to monitor are 1) food choices, and 2) food portions. You don’t have to be a certified nutrition specialist to understand these.

Candy bar or apple? French fries or steamed veggies? You get the point. I know, I know. Candy bars are soooo good. Yep, they are but they are also bad for your overall health and a highly concentrated source of calories. What’s the old saying? “A second on the lips, a lifetime on the hips!” Is it worth it?

If you start making some wiser food choices, you soon find that the “junk food” doesn’t taste as good as it once did. Junk foods will soon begin to taste too sweet or too salty and you’ll find you don’t really want them any more. Perhaps an occasional indulgence, but not a steady diet. And, as you replace the “junk” with wiser food choices, your calorie consumption goes down, your weight goes down, and your energy and health go up.

As a person who has gained and then lost more than 40 pounds over the last year, this advice is solid. Do you recommend a low carb plan or just to eat smaller and healthier? I did the low carb routine and it worked but it did not satisfy cravings for junk food. I am now trying to eat small portions of all types of foods and it seems to be working better for me. I look forward to your response.
